Are you a registered builder?

According to the Building Commission, "if you are in the 'business of building' then more than likely you must be registered with the Building Practitioners Board (BPB). The Building Act 1993 requires most people who carry out or undertake work in building to be registered as building practitioners with the BPB. Registered building practitioners are generally required to carry the appropriate insurance to provide consumers with better protection. The BPB registers individuals not companies or businesses" (www.buildingcommission.vic.gov.au).

If you are a registered builder please be aware that you are required to obtain warranty insurance for your building permit if the work is over $12,000 under Building Act 1993.
