Extension of time to a Building Permit
When a building permit is issued, the commencement and completion dates are clearly noted on the permit. In most cases, the building work is completed prior to the permit expiring. In the event that the building work looks as though it will not be completed prior to the permit expiring, the owner must apply to Council for an extension of time whilst the building permit is active. If an extension of time letter is lodged after the permit has lapsed, a new building permit may be required.
In order for an extension of time to be considered, an application form must be lodged, the relevant fees are to be paid and a reason must be nominated as to why the works could not be completed on time.
For more information, contact Building Services on 9217 2259 or visit the Civic Centre, 25 Ferres Boulevard, South Morang (8.30am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday, except for public holidays).
